Thomas will see some time in goal, but as a freshman he will need to buy his time. The VARSITY has a senior goalie that is outstanding. He will mostly play forward and midfield. He is #18.

HIGH SCHOOL Soccer Scrimmages
High School Soccer has OFFICIALLY begun. They have been conditioning since early May "unofficially" but lots of running was involved. Last year, the team made it to the state finals, only to lose 2-1 in the last minutes. This is a great bunch of Godly young men to watch grow and solidfy as a team. 
Hannah's 4H project
Hannah joined a 4H club where she was taking horseback riding lessons last fall. She competed in the county fair in three areas. Since she was a first year student, she could not take a horse into the fair, but instead completed a horseless horse project, a team Groom and Clean, and Skillathon. She received the highest award for her horseless horse project "A!" Here are some pictures to wrap up our week in July.
Rain, Yogi and the Bridge at Night
On Monday, July 20th, Kim's birthday, we awoke to our only rain storm. And boy, did it rain!!! There was an actually river running under Thomas's tent. We were uphill from the rest of the campground, so imagine what the people at the bottom of the hill where it flattens out woke up to!
Yogi and/or Cyndi Bear would come and visit our campsite throughout the week.
Awhhhh, true love!
A little blurry, but we were blessed to see a laser light show at the Natural Bridge park one night. They set it to the 7 Days of Creation from Genesis 1. Very moving.

Camping at Natural Bridge VA
Our week long camping trip this year took us to Natural Bridge, Virginia. It is located in the mountains about 40 minutes North of Roanoke. We sta;yed at Yogi Bear Campground - which we all highly recommend as long as you rent a golf cart. It is VERY spread out and lots of opportunities to hike. We had a nice shaded site and staying throughout the week afforded us with lots of empty sites around us. The kids met lots of friends their age and had fun in the lake. Poor James couldn't go in the lake with his cast on his arm, but did spend lots of time in the pool with Mom.
Thomas opted to stay in a tent and fortunately for him the weather stayed cool enough that he could. It also gave him the chance to have his own space and get some peace and quiet. He did have a box fan to keep the air circulating.
Ahh, the wonderful golf cart. We were thankful the rules stated no one under 18 drives the golf cart - made them the bad guys and not us!
James isn't sad here, the sun was so intense he was squinting. He loved the pool and we are very thankful for the new waterproof casts that are available.

Thomas spent a week at Boy Scout camp in July - funny thing was that he said you could see your breathe every morning. This was definitely a strange weather summer. Unfortunately for him, he took lifesaving and that was his first class at 8 AM every morning. A little chilly at best. The theme was "Space Adventure" and his troop does an excellent job at decorating the campsite. James just joined Scouts in August and Jacob will join in November when he turns 11. Then next summer, we can sent THREE boys to camp for a week - WOO HOO!!!!

Easter Weekend
Our trip to Florida was over and we were home in time to celebrate our Risen Savior! The pictures are self-explanatory, and as you can see it was a gorgeous day outside. Nanna and Jack were able to come down and see some soccer games over the weekend, too.

One more stop... Berea, KY home of Daniel Boone
We had to get in at least one official educational stop on the way home from Florida. We stayed in Berea, Ky and then spent most of Sunday in Boonesborough, KY. Jacob has done a report for our Biography Fair on Daniel Boone last fall and was very EXCITED to actually see it first hand.

We were glad they weren't roasting a wild animal here. Just behind this area was the town's jail - complete with a prisoner.

Off to Atlanta
After Kennedy Space Center we were off to Atlanta, GA. Rain again, off and on. Thankful for the DVD player in the van. Saturday morning we visited Stone Mountain, GA. If you have never been there, we would ALL highly recommend it. We took a gondola up the mountain and then hiked down. While we were there, there was a Civl War re-enactment - which James found very interesting and reminded several of the re-enactors that slavery was wrong. Totally embarrassed Thomas, but he was right and knew his history.

After touring the different space crafts, the kids pretended to be astronauts--but wait!?? Where is Thomas - oh yah, he is too old for this silliness. Oh the problems of being 14...
Everyone but Mom and Jacob rode the simulator. Lots of motion sickness warnings, so the thrill seekers rode it alone.
Hannah, James and Jacob got into the nose of the shuttle and had to lay on their backs to simulate what it felt like for the astronauts. Pretty cool!

Orlando, Florida
No one in their right mind would visit Florida during Spring Break - but when you have one in school, you take what you can get. We got really lucky and our week long stay at a Marriott Resort was only $99.00 - yes, $99.00!!! They tried to sell us a time share, but we stood firm and respectfully said, NO! They did offer us another trip to Orlando next year, but we've been there twice and that is enough for awhile.
Thomas brought his hat from our first trip to Disney (from Aunt Patty!) and actually wore it around Downtown Disney, that was until we saw the Worthington Christian Baseball team (tee-hee) We are waiting patiently at Rainforest Cafe for dinner.
here we are at Universal Studios - JAWS!! We actually watched the original movie with the kids - WOW, lots of foul language in that movie that we didn't remember. Right before this picture, it had downpoured for 20 minutes. Love those Florida showers, then the HUMIDITY!
We were getting on the Mummy Returns ride and they had some characters outside to entertain us. After this picture, he stood up and was about 12 feet tall (on stilts). The kids thought he had walked away and they turned around and there he was! They jumped and screamed - pretty hilarous if you ask me.
Here is the token family picture, minus mom. Someone has to take the picture. Thank goodness for the sunglasses.

Florida or bust!
On our way to Florida, we stopped for the day in Savannah, GA. Absolutely gorgeous day. We had rain the entire first day of driving, but day 2 was an answer to prayer. We walked to boardwalk and visited many shops. Jacob found a crazy hat that lights up - just his style!
We had our first experience at FIVE GUYS BURGERS and FRIES - marvelous burgers. Later in the summer they opened one near our home. Lucky us!!!

Hannah and mom walking down the boardwalk. The trees were just blooming, which Thomas and Hannah did not like too much. Both of them had extremely stuffy noses and sneezing attacks - gotta love those allergies.
We took LOTS of family pictures - figure our time with family vacations and having the kids all together will be fading away soon. Can't believe the kids are getting to be teenagers.
